Cathleen Wright

Cathleen Wright is a master’s prepared, nationally board-certified, licensed acupuncturist with over 22 years of combined clinical experience.  Her experience as a registered nurse and certified diabetes educator provided a firm foundation for integration into Eastern medicine and acupuncture.  Cathleen was blessed with the opportunity to work with individuals living with cancer at St. Vincent’s Comprehensive Cancer Center in Manhattan while an intern at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine.  She additionally was afforded the opportunity to travel to Bejing, China to study in 2009 as part of the World Federation of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Society’s program where she earned a certificate for her studies.  Cathleen specializes in the treatment of challenging chronic health conditions including, but not limited to, fibromyalgia, anxiety, migraines, arthritis, asthma, diabetes, hypertension, peripheral neuropathy, perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms and autoimmune conditions.   Cathleen provides an individualized assessment and treatment plan for every client that may include other modalities such as tui na massage, cupping, gua sha and nutritional recommendations when clinically indicated.

Cathleen’s philosophy is that total wellness is most often achieved through integrative care.  She recommends that you continue care with your primary care provider and health care team while pursuing acupuncture treatment.  Adequate and restful sleep, regular physical activity, healthy nutrition and a regular stress management plan should be included in an integrative wellness plan. All of these combined with your acupuncture treatment plan can help you to more fully achieve health and wellness.  Cathleen is happy to communicate with other members of your health care team to assist you in achieving optimal wellness.

Children over the age of 6 accompanied by a parent or legal guardian are welcome in the practice.  Young children can often be treated with needle-free techniques.  Just as for adults, treatment is individualized for each child.  Children should remain under the care of their pediatrician while receiving acupuncture treatment.
